⏪ December 2025 ⏪

A month’s worth of wisdom

Here’s your December 2025 recap:

Wouldn’t you like to live longer? And better?

In Outlive, Dr. Peter Attia shares practical strategies to enhance your lifespan and healthspan.

A few of the big ideas in his book:

  • The role of precision medicine (More)

  • The importance of zone 2 training (More)

  • One measure to reduce your risk of heart disease (More)

Have you ever found yourself awake at night, replaying an event in your mind?

In Forgive & Forget, Lewis B. Smedes provides hope and solace for those longing for the peace that comes with forgiveness.

The book breaks down the process of healing into four stages, with stories of real people's experience throughout.

The 4 Stages of Forgiveness:

  • We Hurt: The initial wound creates pain that lingers and refuses to fade.

  • We Hate: Anger and righteous indignation surface as natural responses.

  • We Heal Ourselves: You develop "magic eyes" to see the person who hurt you differently.

  • We Come Together: The possibility of reconciliation emerges.

In Trust-Based Selling, Charles H. Green explains that great salespeople put the buyer's interests first. They make trust, not the sale, their goal.

To measure trustworthiness, Green outlines four variables that build (or erode) trust.

The 4 Variables of Trust:

  • Credibility has to do with the words we speak.

  • Reliability has to do with actions.

  • Intimacy refers to the safety or security that we feel when entrusting someone with something.

  • Self-Orientation refers to the person’s focus. In particular, whether the person’s focus is primarily on him or herself, or on the other person.

These come together in The Trust Equation:

Trustworthiness = (Credibility + Reliability + Intimacy) / Self-Orientation

In The Music Lesson, legendary bassist Victor Wooten takes us on an unconventional journey that transforms how we think about music and musicianship.

The book is a inspiring parable of music and life, through which Wooten introduces twelve measures which his eccentric mentor called “a gift from Music.”

Twelve Elements of True Musicianship:

  1. GROOVE

  2. NOTES

  3. ARTICULATION/DURATION

  4. TECHNIQUE

  5. EMOTION/FEEL

  6. DYNAMICS

  7. RHYTHM/TEMPO
